Efficient heating water treatment and smart replenishment in single-family homes
A current project by Bohn Haustechnik, a company based in Winnenden, shows how modern technologies can improve the efficiency and safety of heating systems. Under the direction of project manager Marco Maier, a new heat pump system was installed in a single-family home in Berglen, ensuring that the heating water quality complied with VDI 2035.
Bohn Haustechnik is a renowned specialist company based in Winnenden that specializes in innovative heating, sanitation, and air conditioning technology. The company offers comprehensive solutions for new buildings, modernization projects, and maintenance, consistently focusing on high-quality, future-proof technologies. Thanks to its many years of experience and dedicated team, Bohn Haustechnik guarantees professional implementation and sustainable optimization of heating systems – both in the private and commercial sectors.
In order to meet the requirements for standard-compliant water quality, the Heaty Profiline No.2 treatment device was used in a bypass process. This process enables particularly efficient and resource-saving filling of the system and helps to extend the service life of the equipment.

In addition, the UWS MAGella MG200 magnetite separator was integrated to minimize deposits and contamination caused by magnetite. With a high separation capacity of 4 x 9,000 Gauss, the system ensures that metallic particles are removed from the heating water, reducing wear on pumps, heat exchangers, and pipes.

Advantages of magnetic separators:
- Extended service life of the system: The removal of magnetite and other particles prevents corrosion and deposits.
- Increased efficiency: Clean heating water leads to better heat transfer and reduces energy losses.
- Reduced maintenance: Fewer deposits mean fewer malfunctions and lower repair costs.
- Protection of the heating system: Preventing deposits ensures that heat exchangers, valves, and pumps operate trouble-free for longer.
- Sustainability: A clean heating system uses less energy and thus reduces CO₂ emissions.
In addition to water treatment, the fully automatic IoT make-up water system with leak protection Heaty Complete PROfessional from UWS Technologie was installed. This offers numerous advantages over conventional make-up water stations:
- Automatic refilling: The system continuously monitors the pressure and automatically refills water as needed to ensure constant pressure conditions and optimal efficiency in the heating system.
- Leak protection with push notification: Integrated leak protection with a solenoid valve prevents uncontrolled water leakage and potential damage to the building. In the event of an unusual drop in pressure or increased make-up water volume, the system sends proactive warning messages to the operator or service technician and switches itself off automatically if necessary.
- Digital water meters: The device records both treated and untreated water. This is documented and is particularly valuable for warranty claims, as it proves the amount of untreated supplementary water that may have been refilled by third parties.
- Cloud and IoT connectivity: Thanks to the integrated eSIM, the Heaty Complete PROfessional automatically connects to the UWS cloud portal via the mobile data network. This enables access to live data, status reports, and proactive notifications without the need for Wi-Fi or additional network infrastructure. Even in the basement, no problem.
- Easy installation and maintenance: The intuitive menu navigation makes commissioning and cartridge replacement easy. In addition, the compact design with an installation length of only 34 cm allows for flexible mounting, suitable for many different installation environments. Even in cramped boiler rooms.
- Compliance with normative requirements: Water treatment complies with VDI 2035, ÖNORM H 5195-1, and SWKI BT 102-1, thereby preventing corrosion and deposits.
- Security and transparency: Real-time monitoring ensures that the system functions optimally at all times and reduces the risk of unexpected failures.

Benefits of heating water treatment:
- Protection of the heating system: Optimal water quality prevents damage to sensitive components.
- Improved energy efficiency: Reduced resistance in the system ensures lower energy consumption.
- Cost reduction: Fewer repairs and an extended plant life cycle reduce operating costs in the long term.
- Compliance with legal requirements: Standard-compliant water treatment prevents liability risks and ensures compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Increased living comfort: A stable and efficient heating system ensures that heat distribution in the building remains constant and comfortable.

The combination of a magnetite separator, standard-compliant water treatment, and IoT replenishment offers significant advantages for both HVAC companies and homeowners. The HVAC company Bohn benefits from time-saving and efficient installation, reduced maintenance requirements, and added value for its customers. Homeowners receive a reliable, durable, and energy-efficient heating solution that offers a high level of comfort, protection against damage, and long-term cost savings.
In addition, the free 5-year Complete PROfessional Package offers an attractive bonus: it not only includes the cloud connection costs, but also the automatic shipment of two refill cartridges, which are delivered directly to Bohn and can be easily assigned.
Thanks to these advanced technologies, the heating system can not only be operated more efficiently and sustainably, but also protected in the long term. This reduces downtime, saves energy costs, and ensures trouble-free operation for many years to come. A win-win situation for everyone involved—from HVAC companies and homeowners to the environment.
