The VDI 2035<\/strong><\/a> makes it clear: During softening<\/strong>, the heating water is passed through an ion exchanger that exchanges calcium (Ca\u00b2<\/strong>\u207a) and magnesium (<\/strong>Mg\u00b2<\/strong>\u207a)<\/strong> for sodium ions (Na<\/strong>\u207a)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Result:<\/strong><\/p>\n But:<\/strong><\/p>\n Conclusion: Softening protects against limescale, but not against corrosion.<\/strong> For many systems, this is not enough – especially with aluminum components or mixed installations.<\/p>\n Desalination<\/strong> goes one step further: here, the heating water is treated via a mixed bed resin<\/strong><\/a> a combination of cation and anion exchangers. Oxygen ingress is a permanent problem, especially in plastic pipe systems without a diffusion barrier.<\/p>\n Solution: Vacuum degassing<\/strong> or inline degassing<\/strong> for ongoing operation or after filling<\/p>\n Oxygen content below 0.1 mg\/l is the target value according to VDI 2035.<\/p>\n Untreated systems often carry particles, suspended matter, sand or soldering beads<\/strong> – e.g. after new construction or renovation.<\/p>\n Solution:<\/p>\n Provides lasting protection for fittings, pumps and heat generators.<\/p>\n The less is contained in the water, the less can happen in the system<\/strong>. The system runs more efficiently, more reliably and remains within the manufacturer’s specifications.<\/strong><\/p>\n Water treatment is an overall concept<\/strong> – not just a softening cartridge in the filling hose.
